| First inland Mazu Festival |
| On April 27 the first two-day Earthen Building Mazu Cultural Festival was held in Meilin of Nanjin in southwest Fujian. As a widely worshipped sea goddess, Mazu and its culture has been a spiritual bond for many Chinese across the globe for centuries. On her birthday, which falls on the 23rd day of the third lunar month (April 28 this year), the earthen building residents would hold a royal feast.
