Lu Ning and Wei Wei, world gold medallists in amateur Latin Dance, performed at the 2007 Cross Straits DanceSport Competition held at Xiamen University, March 3. 933 amateur dancers from both sides of the Straits competed together, including 62 from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. The snake-hipped, flamboyant and graceful moves had the audience entranced. Medals will be awarded for DanceSport for the first time at the Beijing Olympics. The cross Straits contest is part of a program of events to help raise the profile of the sport in China.
