By Rail: Xiamen Island is connected to the mainland by a long dyke so that there are through trains to Xiamen city. Xiamen Railway Station is located at the intersection of Xiahe Road and Hudong Road, through which there are many bus routes. From the station, going westward along Xiahe Road, you can reach the ferry dock where you can take ferryboats to the Gulangyu Islet. The Station provides passengers with through train service to Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Hefei, Nanchang, Yingtan, Xi’an, Chongqing, etc.

By Road: Xiamen highway system provides easy access to all directions. From its long-distance bus stations, passengers can take buses not only to everywhere within Fujian province, but also to northern provinces like Hunan, Hubei, Anhui and Zhejiang, and to southern cities like Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shantou etc. There are three long-distance bus stations in Xiamen, Songbai Station, Hubin Station and Jimei Station, all of which provide through bus service for passengers to Shanghai, Nanjing, Hefei, Nanchang, Yingtan and Fuzhou etc.

By Water: Enjoying both deep water and low wave, Xiamen Port is a fine natural habour, with domestic shipping routes to many coastal cities, including Shantou, Guangzhou, Hainan Island, Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Yantai, Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Shanghai etc., and international routes to 167 countries and regions, including Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Pakistan, Turkey, Kuwait, Morocco. There are regular passenger liners between Xiamen and Hong Kong, as well as direct cargo ships between Xiamen and Kao-hsiung.
