China's National Tourism Administration predicted recently that 710 million domestic tourists will travel during the upcoming National Day holiday, up 10 percent year-on-year. The vacation season is one day longer than in normal years because of the overlap with Mid-Autumn Festival.
Tourists are expected to spend 590 billion yuan, up 12 percent over 2016. Booking data from travel agency Ctrip.com suggests that popular destinations include places likes Kunming, Lanzhou and Lijiang as well as perennial favorites such as Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen. Popular international destinations on tuniu.com include Cambodia, Indonesia and Malaysia.
