Ethiopia's Lemi Berhanu clocked 02:08:25 to win the men's title of the 2017 Xiamen International Marathon here on Monday, and Ethiopia's Meseret Mengistu Biru clinched the women's title with 02:25:57.
Lemi Berhanu won the men's race of 2016 Boston Marathon with 02:12:45.
Lemi Berhanu and Meseret Mengistu Biru each received prize money of $US40, 000 and $US40, 000 respectively.
The Xiamen International Marathon is a full marathon-exclusive event for the first time, witnessing participation of 30,000 runners from 31 countries and regions this year.
The event record of men's race in Xiamen is 02:06:19 set by Kenya's Moses Mosop in 2015, breaking the best marathon record in China region. And Ethiopia's Mare Dibaba won the women's title with 02:19:52 and broke the record of Xiamen International Marathon.
