A cultural delegation from Nice, France, visited Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, from Oct 20 to 23 at the invitation of the city's foreign affairs office.
The delegation consisted of performers from the Opera of Nice and professors from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, who gave a concert on Oct 22 in collaboration with the Xiamen University Choir.
The concert was held in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the establishment of sister-city relations between the two cities and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France.
During their stay in Xiamen, the French delegation visited the Art College of Xiamen University, and the Xiamen Nanyin Troupe, an art organization promoting Nanyin, one of the oldest forms of Chinese music that is still preserved in its original state.
The delegation invited XMU singing majors to study at the International Academy of Music in Nice and invited the Xiamen Nanyin Troupe to perform in the city.
The France International Food Festival was also recently held. Chefs from restaurants in Xiamen and Nice were invited to showcase their culinary skills and develop creative dishes.
A photo exhibition is also scheduled to be held from Nov 1 to 10 at the Xiamen Library. It will showcase the history of the relationship between Xiamen and Nice since they established sister-city ties in 2014.
