Recently, Xiamen’s newly upgraded emergency medical center was officially put into use.
The center provided  "120" emergency services  in January 1999. The number of ambulences it sent has  increased from 6,735 in 1999 to 98,434 in 2016, with an average annual growth rate of 17%.
As the old center fails to meetthe growing needs for medical emergency resources, the center decided to make an extension  in March this year.
After the rebuilding, the dispatch hall is now expanded from 78 square meters to 120 square meters and equipped with 10 seats for emergency calls. This means the waiting time can be greatly reduced.
It is reported that the newly-built hall adopted a closed-style design to better cope with heavy rain and strong typhoon.
In addition, the duration of reserved power supply increases  from 6 hours to 12 hours to cope with the potential long-time  power failure.
Besides, a large screen display system and a conference room are also added.
