A hearing on the pricing of Xiamen Metro tickets will be held at the Bailuzhou Hotel on the morning of July 25th, according to the Xiamen Development and Reform Commission.
Two mileage-based pricing schemes will be discussed during the hearing. The first scheme is calculated according to a base fare of 3 yuan per kilometre for the first 6 kilometres, and after that one more yuan would be charged for each 6, 10, 12, and 20 kilometres.
This means a distance between 6 and 12 kilometres (including 12km) would cost 4 yuan, 12-22 kilometres (including 22km) 5 yuan, 22-34 kilometres (including 34km) 6 yuan, and 34-54 kilometres (including 54km) 7 yuan. One more yuan would then be charged for each 20 kilometres beyond 54 kilometres.
The other pricing scheme is calculated by starting with an initial price of 2 yuan for the first four kilometres and after that one more yuan would be charged for each 4, 6, 6, 9, and 13 kilometres.
This means a distance between 4 and 8 kilometres (including 8km) would cost 3 yuan, 8-12 kilometres (including 12km) 4 yuan, 12-18 kilometres (including 18km) 5 yuan, 18-24 kilometres (including 24km) 6 yuan, 24-33 kilometres (including 33km) 7 yuan and 33-46 kilometres (including 46km) 8 yuan. An additional one yuan would then be charged for each 20 kilometres beyond 46 kilometres.
In addition, the Metro will adopt the same concessionary fares scheme as the BRT.
