The Egret Friendship Award is to encourage and honor foreign experts who make outstanding contributions to Xiamen in their work. 

1.Qualifications

To get Egret Friendship Award, foreign experts must satisfy one of the following qualifications:

1.1. Actively impart new technology, new craftsmanship, new measures, and new formula to related industries in Xiamen, introduce new products, solve key problems of technology and management or fill in the gap in certain field of science and technology, thus achieve remarkable economic and social benefit.

1.2. Make outstanding contributions to construction, production, operation or management of important municipal projects.

1.3. Make outstanding contributions to cultivating talents for Xiamen, donating valuable instruments, equipments or books to Xiamen, and promoting education, scientific research, publication or external publicity of Xiamen.

1.4. Both foreign officials and non-governmental friendly people who make outstanding contributions to enhance international exchanges    of Xiamen with other countries can apply for the award.

All foreign experts who have got Egret Friendship Award cannot apply for it again.

Only foreign experts who have got Egret Friendship Award can apply for provincial or national Friendship Award.

2. Application

2.1. After receiving notice issued by Xiamen Foreign Experts Bureau, Xiamen Egret Friendship Award Application Form shall be filled in by related units where foreign experts work .Forms shall be submitted to departments in charge for verification and approval before turning in for final approval by Xiamen Foreign Experts Bureau.

2.2. Forms shall be carefully finished in accordance with contents and requirement of Xiamen Egret Friendship Award Application Form.This application form must be submitted in triplicate with detailed and trustworthy information.

2.3. Materials of applicants shall be submitted to Xiamen Foreign Experts Bureau on or before May 31st of the year.

3. Appraisals

3.1. The Egret Friendship Awards are awarded every two years with less than 5 winners.

3.2 “Egret Friendship Award” application materials shall be collected by Xiamen Foreign Experts Bureau and be submitted to related departments for pre-examination on checking whether candidates have abided by residing regulations of Xiamen or not.

3.3. An appraising committee comprised of related departments of Personnel Bureau, Foreign Affairs Office, Education Bureau, Economic Development Bureau, Science Bureau, Agriculture Bureau, Foreign Investment Bureau etc. shall be organized by Xiamen Foreign Experts Bureau (related departments for the committee can be added or reduced in accordance with the numbers of candidates). Materials of candidates submitted shall be examined. Investigation and verification on submitted materials shall be organized when necessary.

3.4. The appraising work shall be finished before the end of July by Xiamen Foreign Experts Bureau .Awards for applicants shall be informed in written form to applying units. Before receiving written notice for the awards, no information shall be released by any people or units.

4.  Prize Awarding

4.1. Winners of Egret Friendship Award shall be awarded Egret Friendship Medal and Egret Friendship Award Certificate by Xiamen Foreign Experts Bureau.

4.2. During National Holidays, prizewinners will get together and be invited to the reception and awarding ceremony held by Xiamen municipal government . Certificates and medals for Egret Friendship Award shall be awarded by municipal government leaders. Prizewinners who are not available to attend the ceremony can get the awards from Xiamen Foreign Experts Bureau or the work units.

5.  Publicity

5.1.Publicity and reports on winners shall strictly conform to national secrecy regulations and faithfully protect safety and interests of foreign experts. All foreign experts do not want to give publicity about their identities and stories shall not be publicized and reported.

5.2.Publicity and reports about foreign experts and their stories shall gain recognition from applied work units and foreign experts themselves. All reports shall be submitted for examination and verification by Xiamen Foreign Experts Bureau before issue.
